Despite what she said, the silver haired hanyou still held that heavy weight of guilt. Taking his eyes back to the trail he swallowed hard, promising himself he'd work harder. Harder at keeping control, finding and killing Naraku...Being the best in order to protect those who mattered. Her slight squeaze reminded him of that...Would always remind him of that.

Kagome knew it was still bothering him though. She could read Inuyasha like an open book. Now what could she say to make him feel better about everything? "What you did back there, Inuyasha. At Ogre Rock. You did everything you could to protect us. It was really great. I guess we don't thank you often enough..." Glancing up at him, she flashed him a brilliant smile, the one that made everyone around her weak in the knees. "Naraku doesn't stand a chance against you."

Her warming smile and upbeat comment made him realize, no matter what, his friends would be there. She would be there...Driving him to never give up or let something like this get in the way. Putting on a determined look he gave a 'feh'. "Course he doesn't. That bastards days are comin' to an end quick."

"Yep!" They broke through the trees finally. The village was in sight, and as usual everyone had been awake the moment the sun had appeared. There was always work to be done in this day and age. Food had to be gathered, fields had to be tilled... No one could afford to be lazy. Kagome was kind of glad she didn't live here all the time. It was beautiful, but she did like her modern conveniences. "What are we gonna do today, Inuyasha? Are we leaving?"

The sun was now offically over the horizon, cleary starting its day in a fasion that sybolized it was probably going to be scortching hot. Squinting his eyes a bit he sniffed the new scents assulting his nose before his stomach grumbled again. "After we eat." He commented confidently while picking up his pace.

He pulled Kagome along, and she half ran after him towards Kaede's hut. Letting go of his hand finally, she moved the screen aside and ducked in, holding it up for Inuyasha to follow her. "Good morning!" She called to the sleepy occupants. "I'm back! Who wants breakfast besides Inuyasha?"

A cloth-and-prayer-bead-covered hand shot up in the air before it even seemed the black-haired man was awake.
Miroku sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes and yawning. He had recognized the voice asking about breakfast, and he was more than happy to escape his happy dreamland of scantilly-clad women, to partake in the delicious cuisine of Kagome's era.
Looking over at the girl standing in the doorway, the monk smiled. "Welcome back, Kagome. I'm glad to see you're looking well. Have your feet fully recovered?"

"Not fully," Kagome admitted. Stepping onto the platform floor, she knelt beside the ashes of the fireplace and worked to get it lit again. Then she looked to Inuyasha. "Bring the bag over here, okay? I guess we'll all have ramen this morning. I bought a few new kinds."

Putting the big yellow bag down with a 'thump' he sat next to it and opened the top much like he had when they were next to the well. "I know you did, I want beef." he announced while digging through the top again.

Sango glanced up from where she had been resting and took notice that Kagome had returned. "Kagome!" Sango cheered as she took to her feet and greeted her weary companion. "InuYasha, don't be so hasty. There's plenty of Ramen for everyone to share." She added; helping to pass around the cup-of-noodles to all her pals.

Miroku watched Sango as she handed out the ramen to everyone, keeping a close eye on her backside.
He smiled up at her as she placed his ramen in front of him, and with a quick decision to be bold, he stretched his hand out, and patted her backside gently. "Thank you so much, Sango. This food will taste ever the better, now that it has been caressed by your soft, delicate hands." He grinned at her sweetly.

'Rrgh..' Sango gritted her teeth as her hand swiftly found Miroku's cheek. 'That's what you get, Monk!' Sango scolded as she hastily turned and sat at a safe distance from Miroku to enjoy her ramen. A familiar, yet awkward silence swept the room as the gang chowed down.

"Aah, but it was well worth the pain, as always, my dear Sango."
The monk went to work on his breakfast; he was famished, and he always loved the food Kagome brought back for them from her time.
Looking from Kagome to the enormous backpack she'd always lugged around, Miroku inquired; "Hey Kagome... how did you manage to get that bag all the way here? It's rather... large, wouldn't you say? It doesn't seem practical that one of your build and beauty would be able to manage the heavy burden of such a large bag." He was steadily trying to make conversation.

((Playing Shippou for now. Does someone wanna be Kaede temporarily?))
"Hmm? Inuyasha carried it most of the way," Kagome replied, looking up from her ramen. She was rather used to ignoring Miroku's fanciful compliments by now. "But I did carry it through the well."
Suddenly she was attacked by a tiny ball of orange fur. Gasping in surprise, she laughed as Shippou perched on her shoulder, hugging her tightly. "KAGOME'S BACK! Kagome, me and Kaede-obaa-chan were working in the garden and I helped dig carrots, but I'm hungry now! Can I have food?"
"Sure, Shippou-chan." Ramen had already been prepared for him, so she handed him his cup. "There you go."
Shippou looked disappointed as he climbed down from her shoulder to sit on the ground beside her. Taking the cup, he looked into it. "No pocky?"
"Not for breakfast. I brought you some for later though."
He grinned. "YAY!"

Kouga ran in his whirlwind along the path to Kaede's village, having long since left Ginta and Hakkaku behind. He could smell his woman... she had returned from... wherever she'd gone, and he intended to greet her properly. Never mind the fact that he could smell that dog-breath with her too. He'd just have to kick the mutt's ass again, especially since Kagome's scent was a little... odd. She was hurt. Growling to himself, Kouga put on an extra burst of speed, yelling Kagome's name as he tore into the village like a dust-devil from hell.
